Glenn E. Rowland 1935-2026

Together again

WARREN - Glenn E. Rowland, 91, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026, at Windsor House in Champion, surrounded by family.

Glenn was born Jan. 7, 1935, in Mecca Township, the youngest child of Clyde Calvin Sr. and Bessie Ione Patchin Rowland.

Glenn graduated in 1953 from West Farmington High School, where he excelled in both basketball and baseball.

On Feb. 3, 1952, he married his high school sweetheart, Treva Joyce Cross, and together they raised five children. Joyce passed away in 2010. They had been married 58 years.

Glenn retired from Specialty Pipe & Tube, Inc., in 1996, where he had worked as pipe yard foreman.

Glenn was a lifelong sports enthusiast. He especially loved his Cleveland Indians. This passion led him to many, many years of first playing and then coaching.

He began coaching his own kids in Little League baseball and Champion Athletic Club softball. He coached the Sims Buick team in the Warren Men’s AA Baseball League. He also coached his grandkids on numerous CAC and travel teams and, finally, at the high school level at various schools throughout Trumbull County. His high school positions included JV, varsity assistant and head coach at Champion, Hubbard, LaBrae, Lakeview and Mathews school districts in both basketball and softball.

Glenn was named the 1993-94 Trumbull County Coach of the Year in girls basketball and was inducted into the Warren Sports Hall of Fame for his athletic contributions to Champion Township in 2000.

After retirement, he particularly enjoyed traveling the country with his wife to watch his many grandchildren play travel and college-level baseball and softball. He was always the proud Grandpa!

Glenn is survived by his five children: Debra (Paul) Hayes of Champion, Garry (Joyce) Rowland of Knoxville, Tennessee, Greg (Maureen) Rowland of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Doreen (Victor) Romack of Warren and Donna (Jerry) Bollinger of Calabash, North Carolina; and 11 grandchildren: Angela Westfall Howse, Kathryn Westfall Weaver, Lindsey Romack Mann, Jessica Rowland Posey, Bethanie Rowland Gigliotti, Tyson Rowland, Ryan Romack, Emily Hayes, Jay Rowland, Taylor Rowland Penman and Curtis Bollinger. Glenn also boasts 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Glenn was preceded in death by his three siblings: Clyde Jr., Pauline James and Hazel Manes.

Glenn’s children wish to express a special Thank You to Olivia Hart of Warren. For more than a decade, Olivia has been dad’s constant companion. We are forever grateful.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, 533 North Park Ave., Warren.

A private graveside service will immediately follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any material contributions be made to the Champion Christian Church, 151 Center Street West, Warren, OH 44481, in her memory.
