SHARPSVILLE, Pa. -- Elouise A. Fell, 83, of Sharpsville, Pa., family matriarch, cat and bird lover, and chef, passed away Monday, Oct. 5, 2026, in the Kadima at New Wilmington Rehabilitation Center. As the hummingbirds have gone for the season, God decided to call home Elouise Ann Fell with them.
Before she became a self-appointed food critic, cat rescuer and bird-watcher, she accomplished many other things in her life.
Born Elouise Ann Sweigert in Sharon, Pa., she grew up in Burghill, Ohio. She graduated in 1960 from Hartford High School and in 1964 married the love of her life, Richard E. Fell. Together they had two children, Richard and Vicki. The family, along with their many dogs and cats over the years, shared wonderful times. From cookouts to snowmobiling and spending weekends at their camp in Tionesta, they lived and laughed their way to beautiful and enduring memories.
During this time, Elouise worked as a packer at Werner Ladder Company. She retired in 2001 after 27 years with the company.
After retiring, she was able to spend more time with her grandchildren and friends. From sewing and crocheting to cooking and baking, she gladly helped anyone who wanted to learn. She happily shared her cooking secrets and could not understand why someone else's food did not taste exactly the same as hers, even if the person did it as she instructed. Her catch phrase was always, "It's real easy to make." She collected many cookbooks over the years and would often modify the recipes to create her own delicious version.
Elouise also loved taking care of her cats. Somehow word seemed to get around the feline community that she would take you in or find you a home if needed. She never turned away an animal in need.
Birds were another favorite of Elouise's. She always had bird feeders, baths and houses in her yard. She enjoyed watching different birds that would visit the spaces she provided. She truly loved all the birds, but had a special place in her heart for hummingbirds and would make special food for them.
She will be lovingly remembered by her family, friends and all the wildlife she helped over the years.
Elouise is survived by a daughter, Vicki Fell of Sharpsville; a son, Richard (Cynthia) Fell, also of Sharpsville; former son-in-law, Robert Wilt of Struthers; four grandchildren, Jessica (Matt) Jennings, Robert Wilt, Megan Wilt and Allison (Seth) Pifer; a great-grandson, Bryson; a best friend of over 50 years, Marilyn Lohr; and her beloved cats, Twinkle and Lily.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fenton and Bedie Sweigert; her husband, Richard E. Fell; and a sister, Ruth Sweigert.
Friends and family may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, at Galloway-Onstott Funeral Home, 3451 State Route 7, Hartford. The Rev. Ron McIlvaine will officiate at the 1 p.m. funeral service.
Burial will be in Orangeville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made, in Elouise's name, to the Shenango Valley Animal Shelter, 1895 Lynwood Drive, Hermitage, PA 16148, or visit sv-as.com.
