Eleanor E. Hebberts 1931-2026

Eleanor Hebberts

CORTLAND - Eleanor E. "Pat" Hebberts, 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026, at Mercy Health St. Joseph Medical Center in Warren.

Pat was born on March 13, 1931, in Follansbee, W.Va., to Wilbur R. and Helen C. Ludwick Patterson.

She graduated from Follansbee High School and West Liberty State College, where she earned a degree in elementary education.

Teaching was more than a profession for Pat; it was a calling and an opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of children. She began her teaching career in North Carolina before moving to Ohio, where she taught kindergarten at Lincoln School in Warren. She later discovered a special passion for early childhood education at the Learning Circle Preschool in Warren. There, her warmth, patience, and enthusiasm helped young children learn, grow, and discover the world around them.

Pat found joy in playing the piano and singing, bicycling, playing tennis, swimming, reading, spending time with friends, and traveling - especially to the beach.

Music held a special place in her heart and remained an important part of her life at First Presbyterian Church of Warren. A devoted member for many years, she shared her love of music through the church's music program, including singing in the choir, directing the children's choir, and playing in the handbell choir. Whether in the classroom or at church, Pat found meaningful ways to share her talents and connect with others.

Above all, Pat treasured her family. She was a loving mother of three daughters and one son and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was a constant source of love and joy throughout her life, and the memories they shared will remain a cherished part of her legacy.

She is survived by her daughters, Joyce E. (Richard) Polenick, Janice L. Brothers and Susan A. Hebberts (Noel Das); nine grandchildren, Katherine Polenick, Alex (Amanda) Polenick, Ben Brothers, Jenna (Owen) Grella, Aidan Das, Griffin Das, Alicia (Mark) Zuberny, Arron Hebberts and Joshua (Laryssa) Hebberts; and eight great-grandchildren, Cameron Polenick, Kaysen Hebberts, Preston Zuberny, Gavin Zuberny, Ethan Zuberny, Malia Hebberts, Caiden Hebberts and Salah Hebberts.

Pat's life was enriched by her love of learning, music, faith, friendship and family. Throughout her 95 years, she touched many lives as an educator, a church member, and, most importantly, a mother and grandmother. The lessons she taught, the joy she found in music, and the love she shared with her family will live on through the generations. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she gave will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Lois C. Patterson Barnes and Wilbur Ronald Patterson; her husband, George M. Hebberts, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage; her son, Michael D. Hebberts; and her grandson, Casey Hebberts.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at First Presbyterian Church, 256 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren.

A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m., with Rev. Dr. Leslie Traylor officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Lane Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive NE, Warren, OH 44483.
