LEAVITTSBURG -- Vera Maxine Harris, 79, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, in her home, surrounded by the love of family.
Maxine was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Born on Nov. 27, 1946, and raised in West Virginia, she later moved to Ohio with her husband of 58 years, Boyd L. Harris, whom she married on Oct. 28, 1967.
A dedicated homemaker and babysitter, Maxine found true joy in the simple pleasures of life. She spent her free time crocheting, camping and fishing. On one of her occasional fishing outings, she earned a Fish Ohio pin for catching a noteworthy catfish.
She is survived by her two sons, Floyd (Jodi) Harris of Hiram and Edward (Melanie) Harris of West Farmington; six grandchildren, Joseph (Rachelle) Harris, Glenn (Shiann) Harris, Krista (Mike Madkins) Harris, Haliee (Brian) Jones-Fakner, Kodie (Harley) Houtz and McKenzie (Jacob) Mason; six great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Mary Jo, Linda, Kathy, Denise, Brenda, Raymond and Gary.
In addition to her beloved husband, Boyd, she was preceded in death by her great-grandchild, River Harris; her sister, Sylvia; and her brothers, Junior, Carl and Tommy.
Maxine will be laid to rest, alongside her husband, Boyd, at Old Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville, W.Va.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
