WARREN -- Shirley Jean Mooney Weir, born Jan. 25, 1938, passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, strength and countless cherished memories. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend whose life touched so many people.
Shirley was born to Robert Mooney and Alida Herr Mooney, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ron Weir, whom she married on Aug. 30, 1972; her son, Ronnie Weir; her brother, Jim Mooney; her sister, Patty Mooney; and her nephew, Kevin Mooney.
She is survived by her daughters, Lori Weir and Renee (Brian) Seger; grandchildren, Michael Root, Bethany Root, Leslie Humes, Ericka O'Brien, Lauren Soos, Justin Seger, and Brent Seger; 12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Darlene Brooks; nieces, Cindy Coleman, Pam Cain, and Lisa Dehaine; many great-nieces and great-nephews; lifelong friend, Margie McCummins; and her beloved Delightful EC Church family.
Shirley retired from Thomas Steel Strip and enjoyed the simple things that brought creativity and joy into her life, including playing golf, playing the trumpet at church, woodworking and painting crafts. She had a creative spirit and a special ability to make things with her hands while making memories with the people around her.
Her faith was an important part of who she was. Her favorite Bible verse was "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6.
A celebration of life service will begin at noon, with visitation from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026, at Global Methodist Church, 1725 Drexel Ave. NW, Warren.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
