Rose M. DePasquale 1934-2026

NILES -- Rose M. DePasquale, 92, passed away peacefully Monday, Sept. 7, 2026, at Shepherd of the Valley in Liberty.

Rose was born June 9, 1934, a daughter of Nick and Ann DeChristofaro Altobelli. She was married to her soulmate, James V. DePasquale Sr., for 52 years.

Rose worked at Sears at Eastwood Mall for 27 years before retiring in 1999. In her free time, she enjoyed playing bridge, cooking, visiting with her grandchildren and volunteering at her church, St. Pope John XXIII Parish-Mount Carmel Church in Niles, and its annual Italian festival. She especially loved dancing with her husband to songs by Frank Sinatra; "Summer Wind" was one of their favorites.

As the oldest sister, Rose learned early the importance of keeping people close -- a gift she carried throughout her life. She raised three sons, James DePasquale Jr., John DePasquale and Joseph DePasquale. She also maintained lifelong bonds with her younger siblings, John Altobelli, Amelia Miller and Joseph Altobelli.

Rose had a gift for making everyone feel like family. Her idea of a "small family gathering" was 50 people. She was a legendary phone talker, famously juggling her cellphone and house phone at the same time. She loved the Ohio State Buckeyes and Notre Dame Fighting Irish with the kind of enthusiasm most people reserve for their own children.

She will be deeply missed by her siblings, Amelia Miller and Joseph Altobelli (Phyllis); sister-in-law, Claudette Altobelli; sons, John and Joe (Debi); grandchildren, Rachel (Lamont), Julie (partner, Robb), JD (Marissa) and Cassi; great-grandchildren, Desaree, Zia and Chloe; and great-great-grandchildren, Romeo and Harmony.

She will also be missed by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Ann Altobelli; her husband, James V. DePasquale Sr.; her son, James V. DePasquale Jr.; her brother, John Altobelli; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and Anne Nuzzi; her brother-in-law, Robert Miller Sr.; her nephew, Robert Miller Jr.; and her niece, Linda Mannella.
