BURGHILL -- Linwood Lyn Davenport, 82, entered into his next life on Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, due to complications of vascular disease. Those who knew him knew him to be a "jack of all trades" and a master of appliance repair. He had a special quality to problem-solve the most daunting of situations in a matter of minutes. He thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie of working at Marlowe's Appliance Store and meeting his customers.
Lyn was born in Windsor, North Carolina. Lyn was well known for his mechanical skills, as he was a repair technician for many years at Marlowe's in Vienna. He was a very talented carpenter also and lovingly restored, fixed and built many a deck and numerous projects for his wife and her family.
He delighted in shopping at flea markets, going out West and eating out at the local diners. If you needed a project done, normally Lyn could figure out how to resolve the issue and get it built, installed or walled.
He was a dedicated Marine involved and active in the Vietnam War. He re-enlisted in the Navy and served 16.5 years, when he retired due to health complications acquired during his service years. Subsequently, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for many years, where he met his dedicated and loving wife, Theresa Martin. To know him was to appreciate his definite and clear opinions about life. He treasured his pets in his later years and will be deeply missed by them.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Theresa Martin Davenport.
He was predeceased in life by his siblings.
Lyn will be interred in Dugan Cemetery in Fowler, preceding a private service.
There are no formal plans for a celebration of life ceremony at this time.
