WARREN -- Lewis W. Milliner, 87, entered into eternal rest Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026, at Washington Square Nursing Center.
He was born Feb. 20, 1939, in Birmingham, Alabama, the son of Louis and Bessie Stokes Milliner.
Lewis graduated from Cortland High School and served his country honorably in the United States Army. Musically talented, he sang and played organ and clarinet, performing in jazz bands and playing solo for Officers Night in the military. He attended the University of Maryland, San Francisco State College, and the City Colleges of Chicago, where he received training in a variety of fields and became proficient in German.
Lewis was a true "forever learner." He bought encyclopedias and read them thoroughly. He never met a book he didn't like, and his favorite subject was psychology. Lewis enjoyed the finer things in life, from restaurants to furniture to travel to clothing, and he designed and sewed his own three-piece suits. He traveled across the United States and the world.
Precious memories of Lewis live on with his daughter, Hiltrud Walker (David) of Niles; three sons, William Milliner (Jennifer) of North Jackson, Lewis W. Milliner IV (Yolandah) of Newark, Ohio, and Christopher Milliner (Charity) of Howland; 20 grandchildren; one brother, Charles Milliner (Stacey) of Warren; and a host of nieces, nephews and their families who adore Lewis and will miss him dearly.
Preceding him in death are his parents; one sister, Elizabeth Milliner-Smith; and two brothers, Wendell and Michael.
Full military honors will be conferred at a later date, as Lewis's urn is laid to rest in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
