LORDSTOWN -- Kay Elaine Snyder, 85, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2026, at Hospice House in Poland, with her family by her side.
She was born Jan. 9, 1941, in Ravenna, the daughter of Iolas Victor and Gertrude Leone Newcomb Mason.
She was a 1959 graduate of James A. Garfield Garrettsville High School and a longtime member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Newton Falls, where she served on church council. She retired in 2014 after working 25 years in the dietary department at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
Kay was also a member of the Lordstown Fireman's Ladies Auxiliary Association and the Warren Mothers of Twins Club. A winner on the Ohio Cash Explosion Show, she enjoyed going to the casino, playing lottery scratch-off tickets, working on word searches and watching the Cleveland Browns and Indians games.
Kay is survived by three daughters, Joyce Gancs of South Carolina, Teresa Lynn (Kenneth) Lyons of Austintown and Tracie Snyder; son, Henry James "Hank" Snyder Jr. of Lordstown; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry James Snyder Sr., whom she married on April 7, 1964, and who died on Nov. 20, 2020; grandson, Raymond Mann; and siblings, Robert Mason, Virginia Fackler and Patricia Walker.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, at the Lordstown Cemetery Chapel, where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Lordstown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, 4920 Fairport Road, Newton Falls, OH 44444.
