James Paul Bitner 1939-2026

MINERAL RIDGE -- James Paul Bitner, 87, of Mineral Ridge, lovingly known as Paul, passed away Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

He was the eldest son of Elmer James and Oleta Bitner and a beloved sibling to his brothers, Harry and Russel, and his sister, Darlene.

Paul graduated from Mineral Ridge High School, Class of 1958. He proudly served in the U.S. Army before working at Republic Steel.

For 62 wonderful years, Paul shared his life with his beloved wife, Bonnie. Together, they built a family filled with love, laughter and countless cherished memories. He was a devoted father to his sons, Doug (former wife, Melanie) and Dan (Jennifer), and a proud Papa to Madalyn, Ian, Mitchell and Caroline. His greatest joy continued with his great-granddaughter, Vada.

Paul loved his dogs and the outdoors. He found happiness in hunting and fishing. He also had a special appreciation for classic cars, a passion that reflected his eye for craftsmanship and detail. But above all his hobbies and accomplishments, Paul treasured his family. He was a steady, loving presence whose dedication, hard work and quiet strength touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Paul will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered and forever cherished by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, extended family and friends.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, 2026, at Lane Funeral Home, Mineral Ridge Chapel, 1350 N. Canfield Niles Road, Mineral Ridge.

Family and friends may also call from 10 to 11 a.m., with a service immediately following at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026, at the funeral home.
