NEWTON FALLS -- Cheryl Jean Waldorf, 78, of Newton Falls, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026, at her residence.
She was born on Sept. 24, 1947, in Warren, the daughter of the late Carmen J. Gumino Sr. and Dorothy C. Teutsch Gumino.
Cheryl lived her entire life in Newton Falls and graduated from Newton Falls High School, Class of 1965.
She married the love of her life, Mark William Waldorf, on Aug. 23, 1973, and they enjoyed 53 wonderful years of marriage together.
Cheryl worked as a barmaid at AMVETS Post 112 in Newton Falls for over 35 years, retiring in 2001.
She was a member of the AMVETS Post 112, where she was the Kitchen Chairman, and the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 3332 in Newton Falls.
Cheryl loved cooking, reading, collecting crystals and angels, and being with her family. She especially loved spending time with Mark on their long Harley rides.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carmen and Dorothy Gumino; and two brothers, James and Joseph Gumino.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, Mark W. Waldorf of Newton Falls; one daughter, Michelle Wolf of Chambersburg, Pa.; two sons, Bryan and Stacy Waldorf of Twinsburg, and Casey and Charity Waldorf of Toledo; one sister, Teresa and Jon Melkonian of Greenville, South Carolina; two brothers, Tony Gumino of Newton Falls and Carmen and Debbie Gumino Jr. of Lake Milton; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026, at Newton Falls Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, at AMVETS Post 112.
The family has requested that all donations be made to Newton Falls AMVETS Post 112, 37 West Broad St., Newton Falls, OH 44444; Newton Falls VFW Post 3332, 433 Arlington Blvd., Newton Falls, OH 44444; or the veteran organization of your choice.
