WARREN -- Betty Jean Jones Jennings, 88, departed this life at 6:50 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, 2026, at her residence after suffering cardiac arrest.
She was born Jan. 13, 1938, in Cleveland, the daughter of William and Genevieve Garner Jones, residing in the area for 65 years, coming from Youngstown.
Betty was employed with Washington Square Nursing Center for 17 years as a nurse's aide before retiring Jan. 1, 2000. She also worked at Warren General Hospital as a nurse's aide for 14 years. She attended East Tech High School.
She was a member of the Higher Ground Church, where she was a mother of the church.
She married Monroe L. Jennings Sr. on June 1, 1957; he died Nov. 2, 2022.
She leaves to mourn her two sons, Pastor Monroe L. (Francine) Jennings Jr. of Cleveland, and Michael W. Jennings of Warren; one daughter, Mrs. Ursula (Walter) Toles of Warren; four sisters, Ms. Mary Gordon of Apple Valley, California, Ms. Caroline Lockett of Youngstown, Ms. Rebecca Cobbin of Atlanta, Georgia, and Ms. Rita Debbs of Phoenix, Arizona; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Frank Jennings; three brothers, Charles Jennings, William Jones and Samuel Jones; four sisters, Miss Delores Jones, Ms. Mary Jenkins, Ms. Jennie Simmons and Ms. Brenda Thompson; one granddaughter, Ms. Aisha J. Jennings; one grandson, Michael Smith; and two great-grandsons.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, at the Restoration Christian Fellowship Church, with calling hours from 10 to 11 a.m.
Burial will take place in Pine Knoll Cemetery.
