BRISTOLVILLE -- Andrew David "Andy" Mahan, 49, of Bristolville, unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work and a true country spirit.
Born on April 7, 1977, Andy grew up with a deep love for his community and graduated from Bristol High School with the class of 1995.
On Oct. 13, 2001, he married the love of his life, Gretchen, with whom he built a beautiful life and family.
In his youth, Andy fully embraced his love for all things country. From line dancing to bull riding to shooting, he was truly the face of rustic masculinity. Later in life, he channeled that strength into a passion for woodworking, a journey that began when he built his family home alongside his father. Over the years, Andy discovered a true, artistic talent for custom wood design.
Andy's ultimate pride and joy were his two sons, Chase and Colton. Fatherhood allowed Andy to truly be himself -- a kid at heart. He loved riding four-wheelers with Colton, shooting guns and sharing his fierce patriotism. Andy also had a lifelong dream of becoming an Ohio State Trooper, and he was profoundly proud to see his son, Chase, living out that dream today. An avid sports fan, he could always be found cheering on his favorite teams, the Steelers and the Guardians.
Andy was a man of service, dedicating five years to his community as a volunteer fireman and EMT. He will be fondly remembered for his favorite, reassuring catchphrase, "That will be alright." Andy enjoyed family vacations to Hatteras Island, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Mahan, as well as his beloved grandparents.
Andy's memory will be cherished forever by his loving wife, Gretchen; his two sons, Chase and Colton; his mother, Susan Mahan; his two brothers, Patrick Mahan and Tristan (Johnna) Mahan; his sister-in-law, Megan (Walt) Kotuba; and his in-laws, Jack and Vicki Hockensmith. He also leaves behind his adored nieces, Brooke, Reagan, Kimber, Harper, Tanner and Amelia; his two nephews, Wyatt and Bodhi; and the Rev. Luke Gabrovsek, whom he loved like a son.
Friends and family are invited to gather from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026, at Life Church, 610 S. Leavitt Road, Leavittsburg. A private funeral service for the family will immediately follow, with Rev. Luke Gabrovsek and Bishop Rodney Mullins officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
