YOUNGSTOWN -- Anastasia "Tasia" Achladis, 78, passed away Monday evening, Sept. 14, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family.
Tasia was born Nov. 12, 1947, on the beautiful island of Fourni in Greece, a daughter of the late Nikolaos and Marika Kondilas Koutelas.
In August 1972, Tasia met the love of her life, Anthony T. Achladis, while he was vacationing in Fourni. Their meeting marked the beginning of a beautiful love story. Tasia courageously left behind the life she knew in Greece to begin a new chapter in the United States.
With determination, grace and an unwavering spirit, Tasia learned a new language and learned to drive, embracing every challenge that came with living her American dream. Together, she and Tony made their home in Warren, where they built a life filled with family, faith, hard work, and love, creating a home and a legacy that will continue through the generations.
A proud homemaker, Tasia also opened her heart and home to many children throughout the community as a babysitter and mother-figure. She had a remarkable gift for making others feel welcome, cared for and loved. The hospitality she extended to others was a reflection of the kindness that had been shown to her throughout her own journey, and she spent her life paying that kindness forward.
Tasia found joy in tending to her garden, keeping her home immaculate and preparing delicious meals for those she loved. She enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino, but her greatest happiness was found in the company of her family. Her home was a place where there was always room for one more at the table, another meal to share and another story to tell. Tasia's kitchen was always open, and for decades, neighbors, friends and members of the Greek community she loved so much would arrive in waves for coffee, conversation, laughter and unconditional love. She never met a stranger.
Her faith was an important part of Tasia's life. She was a lifelong member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, where she found strength, comfort and a sense of community. Her faith guided her throughout her life and remained a source of peace during both joyful and difficult times.
More than anything, Tasia cherished her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and caring sister and aunt. The love she gave so freely will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Tasia will always be remembered by her children, Stella (Stephen) Tomko of Struthers, Theodore (Lisa) Achladis of Powell and Nicholas Achladis of Warren; her beloved grandchildren, Leonidas and Elias Achladis; sisters, Katina Markakis and Voula Tsourakis; nieces, Stellie Ann, Stacey and Sophia; nephew, Ted; and many other dear nieces and nephews in Greece, as well as cousins and friends.
Tasia was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony "Tony" Achladis; her parents, Nikolaos and Marika Koutelas; her parents-in-law, Theodore and Stella Achladis; her sisters-in-law, Irene and Frances; her brother-in-law, Pete; and her brothers-in-law in Greece.
Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Tasia from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 429 High St. NE, Warren, OH 44481.
A funeral service at the church will follow at 11 a.m., before burial in Oakwood Cemetery.
