SOUTHINGTON - William F. Dally, 77, passed away suddenly on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2026, at his residence.
William was born April 25, 1949, in Ravenna, the son of the late William and Genevieve Lipinski Dally.
William was a veteran of the U.S. Army, earning the rank of Specialist 5. He served his country during the Vietnam War with the 18th, 20th and 169th combat engineers. Decorations he earned included three Purple Heart Medals and an Army Commendation Medal. After the service, he worked for WCI Steel, moving up to vessel operator, where he worked until his retirement, following 39 years of employment.
William was a member of the DAV and the Purple Heart Association. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening and motorcycles. He was also a huge Star Trek enthusiast.
William leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Kate Jones and husband, Brian; his son, Mike Dally and wife, Patty; and a dear granddaughter, Hannah Stout.
Friends and family may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, at Blackstone Funeral Home, Girard, and also from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026. Funeral services will take place at noon, with military honors to follow.
