LORDSTOWN -- Mary Ruth Young Liming, 89, passed away peacefully into eternal rest Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026, at her residence.
She was born March 4, 1937, at North Side Hospital in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Lamar A. Young and Lillian Aiken Young, and lived her entire life at Lou-Ida Farms.
Mary married Asa Lee Liming on Feb. 18, 1965; and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage together until his death on July 2, 2020. Their time was spent raising and showing dairy cattle, sheep and Belgian draft horses with their son, Lamar.
Mary graduated from Mineral Ridge High School in 1955 and later, with a degree in education, from Youngstown State University, where her sorority affiliation was Phi Mu. She was a former teacher in the Austintown (Lloyd) Schools.
Mary was a member of the Spiritual Life Board and a former trustee of First Federated Church, North Jackson. She was also a member of the National, Ohio, and local Holstein associations. The Ohio Holstein Queen in 1956, Mary was also chosen as the 2014 Ohio Holstein Woman of the Year. Mary was a former state treasurer of the Buckeye Dairy Boosters, a 4-H dairy club member and later a 4-H club advisor.
She was a member and former treasurer of the Lordstown Garden Guild, Ohl Family Reunion Committee, and Lordstown Historical Society and was a member of CCL and various other agricultural organizations. She also served as a member of the Board of Public Affairs for the Village of Lordstown.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Lee; and her parents.
She is survived by her son, Lamar L. Liming (Estell); and grandchildren, Louis and Marlena Liming of Lou-Ida Farms, Lordstown. She leaves behind her beloved dairy cattle and her faithful companion, Stumpy the cat.
The family would like to thank Sherry Smith, the Antoine Sisters at Adult Day Care, and Patriot Hospice, for their care and kindness toward the end of Mary's life.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls, with Ralph Wince officiating.
Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, 2026, and one hour prior to the funeral service from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, at the funeral home. Upon completion of the service, the procession will pass Lou-Ida Farms en route to Lordstown Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Lee.
The family requests material tributes take the form of contributions to the Lordstown Historical Society or the Trumbull County 4-H Youth Development Fund, Ohio4h.org/county.
