LAKE HILLS, Ill. -- Louis Edward Clifford Jr., 69, of Lake Hills, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2026, while visiting family in South Carolina. He was found resting quietly outdoors with a book in hand.
Born on May 19, 1957, in Braceville, Ohio, Lou was the beloved son of the late Louis and Donna Clifford. Raised in Braceville, he went on to build a distinguished 39-year career in Illinois at MC Machinery Systems, where he dedicated his professional life and eventually retired as the senior vice president of logistics.
While Lou was respected for his professional leadership, his true wealth lay in his relationships. He was famously known as the light in any room he entered, possessing a rare gift for making friends with absolutely everyone he met. Some of his happiest moments were spent traveling with loved ones, playing rounds of the King's Corner card game, or simply sitting on the porch enjoying a good book.
Lou is survived by his loving wife, Michele; his daughter, Sarah (Justin); and his son, Steven.
He is also survived by his three sisters and two brothers, as well as a large community of extended family and friends who will miss his presence dearly.
As his family mourns his loss, they also choose to celebrate the deep love, joy and kindness of Lou's uplifting spirit.
At the family's request, there will be no formal service at this time.
A celebration of life for close family and friends will be announced at a later date.
