NILES -- Joseph Eugene Cupan Jr., 66, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026, at the Hospice House in Poland, following a courageous battle with metastatic melanoma of the skin and brain.
Joe was born Feb. 22, 1960, in Youngstown, the son of Joseph Eugene and Anita Stolle Cupan Sr.
He was a graduate of the McDonald High School Class of 1978 and honorably served in the United States Navy.
For many years he worked as a tool and die machinist at Clark Dietrich in Warren.
He enjoyed fishing and going on vacations, especially to Florida. An avid Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes fan, he loved and cherished the time spent with his family and friends.
Joe is survived by his wife, Joanna Pugh Cupan, whom he married on Oct. 25, 2019; his mother, Anita Cupan of McDonald; children, Nicholas Cupan of Liberty Township, Kayla Victor of McDonald and William Victor of McDonald; and two grandchildren, Ellah and Vada Cupan. He is also survived by his sister, Vicki Cupan (Bob Haydu) of Girard; brother, Calvin (Michelle) Cupan of Girard; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A Memorial Celebration of Joe's Life and Benefit for the Cupan Family will be starting at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, at The Alumni Inn, 346 S. Market St., Girard, Ohio 44420.
