WARREN -- James Sherman Selbe Sr., 66, a lifelong resident of Warren, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2026.
Born in Warren, on Feb. 28, 1960, James was the son of Shirley Stover Babbs and the late Sherman Selbe.
He was a proud graduate of Warren Western Reserve High School and went on to build a career defined by dedication and hard work. For many years, James worked as a steel worker at Copperweld Steel before later serving his community as a bus driver for Community Bus Services.
An avid sports enthusiast and outdoorsman, James loved golfing, fishing and playing local league softball for over 30 years. He was also a huge, passionate fan of all Cleveland sports teams. Above all, James cherished time spent with his family, who brought him his greatest joy.
James is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Dora D. Selbe; his children, Jennifer (Jeremy) Winans and James (Melissa) Selbe Jr.; his loving mother, Shirley Babbs; his sister, Linda (Lee) Goebelt; his six grandchildren, Breauna Selbe, Lauren Selbe, Lillian Lamping, Annabelle Lamping, Avery Winans, and Roman Winans; and his great-grandson, Issac Setting.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sherman Selbe, and his brother, Michael Selbe.
A memorial service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, at Niles First Church of the Nazarene, 1822 Niles Vienna Road, Niles, OH 44446.
