Ila M. Fenstermaker 1942-2026

BRACEVILLE -- Ila M. Fenstermaker, 84, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, at her residence.

She was born March 17, 1942, in Warren, a daughter of the late Clyde A. Peterson and Betty W. Rudy Peterson.

Ila lived in Braceville for many years and was formerly of Cortland. She married the love of her life, Kenneth C. Fenstermaker Jr., on Oct. 21, 1967; and they enjoyed 31 years of marriage together until his death on July 21, 1998. Ila worked as an education director and bookkeeper for the Second Christian Church in Warren for many years. She also taught Sunday school and was a youth group leader at the church.

Ila enjoyed sewing, bowling, cooking with the grandchildren and spending time with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; one son, KC; two sisters, Jeanetta Williams, and Vivian Cross; two brothers, Robert and Dale Peterson; and two grandchildren, Jeremy Riley and Jennifer James.

Ila is survived by one daughter, Patty (William) James of Ellenton, Florida; one son, Don (Jennifer) Fenstermaker of Braceville; one sister-in-law, Joan Garland of Braceville; seven grandchildren, Melissa, Valerie, Rachel, Donald Jr., Andrea, Amber and Danny; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026, at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, 2026, with Pastor Jeff Sagstetter officiating.

She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Kenneth, in Braceville Cemetery.
