Emmett E. Carpenter 1949-2026

MINERAL RIDGE -- Emmett E. Carpenter, 77, passed away Wednesday morning, Aug. 26, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital with his wife by his side.

Emmett was born Aug. 22, 1949, in Olive Hill, Kentucky, a son of the late Morgan and Eva Marie Callahan Carpenter, and lived in the area for most of his life.

He was a 1968 graduate of Leavittsburg High School and worked at Gasser Chair Company as a CNC operator for many years.

Emmett proudly served in the United States Air Force and enjoyed being outdoors and woodworking.

He leaves to forever cherish the memory of him, his wife of nearly 56 years, Patricia Weddell Carpenter, whom he married Sept. 24, 1970; his sister, Luella Carpenter-Tingler; his daughter-in-law, Debra Badanjek-Carpenter; many nieces and nephews, including Janetta Carpenter, who was raised as a sister to Emmett; and many extended family members.

Emmett was preceded in death by his son, Lyle Robert Carpenter; his brothers, Hobert Carpenter, Herbert Jackson Carpenter, Bennie Ellwood Carpenter and Herman Dee Carpenter; his sister, Gladys Ruth Carpenter; and a nephew, Howard Daryl Carpenter, who was like a brother to Emmett.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S. State St., Girard, where a memorial service will take place at 4 p.m. Friday.

Emmett was a jeans-and-T-shirt kind of guy, and those attending his services are encouraged to dress casually and wear jeans in his honor.
