Carmen F. Roberts Jr. 1952-2026

NILES - Carmen F. Roberts Jr., 73, peacefully passed away on Monday, Aug. 3, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, surrounded by family.

He was born Dec. 1, 1952, in Warren, the son of Carmen F. and Mona B. Allison Roberts Sr. and lived in this community his entire life.

Carmen is survived by his wife, Carolyn Braun Roberts, whom he married on Sept. 9, 1983; his son, Carmen F. (Jenna) Roberts III of Stow; daughter, Rachel (Ben) Clement of St. Louis, Missouri; and five grandchildren, Lydia, Eliza and Sylvia Roberts, and Luca and Caius Clement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, John A. Roberts.

Carmen was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School. He attended Kent State University Trumbull campus, where he met Carolyn and began their 49-year adventure together, and Youngstown State University, where he earned a degree in electrical engineering.

Carmen dedicated his life to his family. He found joy in taking care of the people around him. He designed and built houses in his younger years and was proud that he helped build every house he lived in. He was a stay-at-home dad and always did everything he could to support his children -- from helping with school projects to attending endless sports and band events to always making time for calls about the everyday challenges in life.

Carmen enjoyed going to concerts with his wife, most often attending Queen concerts and concerts at the Covelli Centre in later years. Over the past seven years watching his five grandchildren laugh and run through his house brought him so much happiness.

Family and friends may call from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. A Service of Christian Burial will be at noon Saturday, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Leo Wehrlin officiating. The family wants this to be a colorful, uplifting gathering to celebrate Carmen's life.

Burial will include a private ceremony at a future date in Niles City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to St. Pope John XXIII Parish - Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Niles.
