WARREN -- Shelley B. Stokes, age 61, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Sept. 5, 1964, in Warren, the daughter of Willie Kirk Sr. and Frances Blackburn Kirk.
A graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Shelley worked many years as an STNA at Horizon Village Nursing Home.
Shelley was passionate about community work. She founded a nonprofit cancer foundation, and she helped people with drug and addiction issues.
Shelley found relaxation in cooking, baking, shopping, and travel, and she was a member of St. James Church of God in Christ.
Precious memories of Shelley live on with her beloved husband of nearly 26 years, James Stokes, whom she married Oct. 21, 2000; five children: Terrance (Jennifer) Kirk of Warren, Kayla Robertson of Columbus, Brittany Lewis (Edwin Snowden) of Georgia, Roderick Lewis Jr. of Warren and Arnasia Stokes of Warren; 17 grandchildren: Zeri'on, Ah'King, Anaya, Chasidee, Jayden, Aubriella, Bre'aja, Journee, Harmony, Laila, King, Leonard, Gerard, Aaliyah, Xavier, Julio and Ariana; three sisters: Elmira Kirk of Warren, Katherine Keith of Hinesville, Georgia and Kimberly Young of Peachtree Corners, Georgia; five brothers: Anthony (Delilah) of Las Vegas, Andrew (Janine) of South Carolina, Maurice and Ashley, both of Warren, and Willie Kirk Jr. of Peachtree Corners; and host of other family and friends who adore her and think of her fondly.
Preceding her in death are her parents; a daughter, Shannon Marie Kirk; and a granddaughter, Cali Ford.
Calling hours are 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, at St. James Church of God in Christ, 1838 Main Ave. SW, Warren, Ohio 44485, where services will begin at 11 a.m. Aug. 1, with Pastor Dr. Melvin L. Howard officiating.
All who know and love Shelley are welcome to attend and honor her remarkable life.
Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
