NILES -- Richard J. "Rick" Marino, 71, of Niles, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2026, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 24, 1954, in Warren, the son of Richard D. and Irene Katona Marino.
Rick was a proud 1972 graduate of Niles McKinley High School.
A dedicated worker with a strong work ethic, he was self-employed in the concrete business for many years. Innovative in his craftsmanship, Rick was the first in the area to introduce decorative concrete, including stamped and colored concrete, as well as concrete countertops. He was truly the master of all things concrete, living by his business motto -- which continues on today -- "Everything in Concrete."
Outside of work, he was an avid outdoorsman who deeply enjoyed hunting and fishing. Rick took immense pride in passing these passions down, teaching his son, Ricky, everything he knew about the concrete trade, hunting, and fishing, building a bond and a legacy that will carry on.
Rick was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Warren.
Affectionately known as "Bozo" to his family and friends, Rick was the kind of person who was instantly loved by everyone he met. He truly never met a stranger, and he always had a story ready that would leave the entire room laughing hysterically. The world feels a lot dimmer without his bright light and endless humor, but his family finds comfort in the happy memories they shared and the enduring legacy of joy he left behind.
Rick is survived by his loving family, including his son, Richard A. "Ricky" (Megan) Marino of Niles; his two sisters, Cheryl A. (Bill) Marino-Drews of Redondo Beach, California, and Lynette S. Marino of Howland; his two cherished grandchildren, Sabrina Nicholson Marino and Trip A. Marino; his nephew, Jared Drews; and his two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2026, at the Holloway-Williams Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 611 Robbins Ave., Niles, (330-652- 2422).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Monday, July 27, 2026, at St. Mary Church in Warren, with the Rev. Edward Stafford officiating.
There will be no procession from the funeral home; friends are kindly asked to go directly to the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material contributions be made in Rick's honor to the Cortland Conservation Club.
