ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. -- Margaret J. Daniels, 86, of Rochester Hills, Michigan, passed peacefully into the presence of her Savior on Friday, July 10, 2026.
Formerly of Warren, she was born on Nov. 28, 1939, to the late John Jr. and Margaret Kanuck Compel.
On May 20, 1961, she married her beloved husband, James Daniels, and together they shared 58 wonderful years of marriage before his passing.
Margaret's faith in Jesus Christ was the quiet foundation of her life. She loved the Lord and faithfully served Him by caring for others with kindness, generosity and compassion. If she learned of a family in need, she made sure they had a hot meal. She had a gift for listening, offering quiet wisdom, and making others feel seen, heard and deeply loved.
Her creativity was evident in everything she made. She lovingly sewed children's clothing, outfits for her daughters' Barbie and baby dolls, custom draperies, and formal wear. She was especially known for the life-size Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls she created with a sewing partner, which were displayed at the local library. She also enjoyed crocheting baby blankets and afghans, cross-stitch and baking. Her homemade pies became a cherished tradition at birthdays and family gatherings, where they were always requested.
Margaret carried herself with grace and quiet elegance, taking joy in presenting herself beautifully and thoughtfully. She was known not only for her appearance but also for the warmth, kindness and gentle spirit that accompanied her wherever she went.
Margaret is lovingly remembered by her children, Christine (Adam) Chicco of Colorado, David (Carla) Daniels of Oregon and Melissa (Jeffrey) Holtzhouse of Michigan; and her four granddaughters, Emma and Sara of Colorado, Sara of Pennsylvania, and Kaetlyn of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Jr. and Margaret Compel, and her brother, John Compel III.
The funeral service took place Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Modetz Funeral Home, Silverbell Chapel, in Lake Orion, Michigan.
A private burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery in Warren.
Margaret faithfully attended church throughout her life. When she was no longer able to attend in person, she continued worshiping each week through the broadcast ministry of Dr. Charles Stanley.

Though her family grieves her absence, they rejoice in the assurance that she is completely healed and at home with the Lord. Her life was a quiet testimony of faith, love and service; and her legacy will continue in the lives of those she loved.
