PHOENIX -- LeRoy Michael "Lee" Stabile, 74, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
Lee was born Oct. 13, 1951, in Niles, to Rose and LeRoy Stabile.
He graduated from Niles McKinley High School before moving to California to attend a physician assistant program at El Cerritos College. It was during this time that Lee met his future spouse, Marilyn Keene.
Lee loved sailing, most especially on Catalina Island, and was a musician who in younger days played in various bands. Throughout his long illness, Lee always kept a pair of his bongos nearby to beat out a tune, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and hearing them play.
He was also an avid classic car enthusiast. He loved cooking with the whole family participating in days of wine and pasta making. Everyone looked forward to his famous Italian Sunday dinners. He was known for his great sense of humor, which never wavered throughout his long illness, telling stories and always making jokes.
He is survived by his former wife, with whom he remained close for 50 years, Marilyn Stabile, who compassionately cared for him; his children, Christopher (Christina) Stabile, Bryan (Staci) Stabile and Nicole (Jonathan) Gable; five grandchildren, Arilyn "2 Beans," Natalie "Zuzu Petals," Everly "Tiny Dancer," Adam "The Bomb" and Ava "Cha Cha Baby"; his sister, Sandra Stabile (Thomas) Harwood; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Rose Stabile, and his sister, Anna Lee (Abby) Williams.
A funeral Mass will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2026, at St. Pope John XXIII Parish-Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 381 Robbins Ave., Niles. The Rev. Leo Wehrlin will be the celebrant.
Following Mass, there will be a celebration of Lee's life at 2:30 p.m. at the Harwood residence in Niles. Lee's entire family will be present and welcome all friends, family and relatives to join them in a remembrance gathering to share cherished memories.
"Dad, we will miss all of your stories, your laugh and your jokes. We promise to always carry your memory in our hearts."
