David J. Mahan 1949-2026
BRISTOLVILLE — David James Mahan, 77, went to be with his Savior on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at his home.
He was born March 5, 1949, in Warren, a son of the late Clinton and Elva Patrick Mahan.
On May 29, 1971, David married the love of his life, Susan, with whom he spent 55 wonderful years.
A proud 1967 graduate of Bristol High School, David began a tool and die apprenticeship with Goodyear, leading to a rewarding 30-year career with Packard Electric. He also drove trucks for Gwinn Brothers and worked as a self-employed carpenter, honing his craft by building multiple homes and woodworking projects.
David was an active member of Champion Baptist Church, devoting his life to Christ and sharing his faith with everyone he encountered.
His interests included woodworking, watching Western films, reading, doing crossword puzzles and tinkering with various projects around the house. He greatly enjoyed the annual family vacation to Hatteras Island, North Carolina.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Mahan of Bristolville; sons, Patrick Mahan of Greene, Andy (Gretchen) Mahan of Bristolville and Tristan (Johnna) Mahan, also of Bristolville; his sister, Lea (Rick Bohan) Mahan of Akron; and his beloved grandchildren, Brooke, Wyatt, Bodhi, Reagan, Chase, Colton, Kimber, Harper, Tanner and Amelia. They brought him great joy, especially during his illness. Every morning he would ask if the “Indians” (grandchildren) were coming over.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Elva; his sister, Linda Frantz; and his brother, Ronald Mahan.
A private service has taken place at Sager Memorial Cemetery in Bristolville, where Pastor Ken Southworth, a longtime friend, officiated.
A deep appreciation for outstanding medical care is extended to Hospice of the Valley nurses Olivia, Christine, Becky and Amanda, who were God’s hands at work.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Carl W. Hall Funeral Service.
The family requests any material contributions be made in David’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or Bella Women’s Center, 1192 North Road NE, Warren, OH 44483.
