Charlene A. Hillier 1936-2026

MIDDLEFIELD -- Charlene Ann Hillier, 89, formerly of West Farmington, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Ohman Family Living at Briar.

Charlene was born Oct. 20, 1936, in West Farmington, to Pauline Francis Osmer Bland, and was lovingly raised by her stepfather, Elton Bland. She graduated from Farmington High School and went on to build a dedicated career. Charlene worked in accounts receivable at Packard Electric before becoming a scheduler for Carlisle Engineered Products, retiring in 1991.

On March 16, 1956, she married the love of her life, Howard Hillier; they were together for over 72 years and married for 70 years while raising a loving family.

Charlene was an active member of the Farmington Historical Society and had a passion for family genealogy. She also enjoyed reading, cooking and baking, but nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her family.

She was a faithful member of West Farmington United Methodist Church for more than 25 years.

Charlene will be deeply missed by her devoted husband, Howard Hillier; her children, Howard (Renee) Hillier Jr., Judy (John) Martin, Jean Lang, Douglas (Stacey) Hillier and Jon (Pamela) Hillier; her sister, Janie Bailey; her brother, David Bland; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved daughter, Charlene Joanie Swiger, who passed away May 7, 2020.

Family and friends are invited to gather for calling hours 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 W. High St., Middlefield, where funeral services will follow at noon, with Pastor Jim George officiating.

Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery, West Farmington.
