WOOSTER -- Cecil A. Lamphear, age 89, longtime Trumbull County resident, entered into eternal rest Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Hospice House in Poland.
He was born Jan. 14, 1937, in Andover, the son of Francis and Marion Hellyer Lamphear.
A 1955 graduate of Cortland High School, Cecil spent his working years in public service. He worked for the Trumbull County Sheriff's Department, retiring in 1981 at the rank of lieutenant. He then worked as a bailiff under Sheriff Barnett and retired in 1996 as a probation officer for the City of Warren. Cecil also worked for the Cortland Fire Department, had been a park ranger at Mosquito Lake State Park, and worked for the Army Corps of Engineers. He was a scuba diver and taught lessons for several police departments.
Cecil was a member of Kinsman Presbyterian Church, the Eagles Club, the Oddfellows and was a Mason.
He enjoyed going to the casino and looked forward to breakfast with his police buddies. He was an avid horseracing fan. Cecil served his country honorably in the United States Air Force.
Precious memories of Cecil live on with his three children, Kimberlee Lamphear of Wooster, Scott (Denean) Lamphear of Cambridge and Edward (Tracy) Marvin of Guthrie, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Brittany, Bryan, Olivia, Scotty Jr., Eva and M.J.; three great-grandchildren, Kylie, Richard and Teagan; his brother, Frankie (Kay) Parke of Cortland; and other friends and family who admired Cecil and think of him fondly.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his former wife, Marcia Beavers; and his brother, Francis "Coonie" Lamphear.
Calling hours are 5 to 7 p.m Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home. All who know and love Cecil are welcome to attend and celebrate his terrific life.
His final resting place, along with full military honors, will be Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
