LORDSTOWN -- Allan Wilbur Metz, 89, of Lordstown, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
He was born on June 7, 1937, in Leetonia, the son of the late Kenneth D. Metz and Jessie L. Murphy Metz.
In 1960, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Korea.
Allan married the love of his life, Mina Katheleen Posey, on June 24, 1978, and they enjoyed 48 years of marriage together.
Allan lived in Lordstown since 1979. He worked 31 years as a Teamsters truck driver for Smith Transfer and Consolidated Freightways, retiring in December 1996. Allan valued a strong work ethic, which he instilled in his children.
He loved traveling with his wife, telling stories and dad puns, and laughing with family.
He is survived by his wife, Mina; and children, Julie (Joel) Sloan of Warren, Timothy Metz of Niles, Kenneth (Tracey) Metz of Lordstown, Shawnnita (Leobardo) Miranda of Wellton, Arizona, and Tammyan (John Jones) Starr of Bowling Green; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the James Funeral Home, 8 E. Broad St., Newton Falls, OH, 44444.
The funeral service will immediately follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with a procession afterward to Meadowbrook Memorial Park in Warren, where Allan will be laid to rest.
