Alice M. Wood 1930-2026

COLUMBUS -- Alice Mae Bianco Wood, 95, formerly of Niles, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Worthington Christian Village in Columbus.

She was born Aug. 20, 1930, in McKinley Heights (Niles), the daughter of Michael J. and Sarah A. Bloomis Bianco.

Alice was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School, Class of 1949, and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Niles.

She was the former president of the Niles Football Mothers Club and was a very active member of the Niles Scope Center. Alice liked coloring, cards, rummikub and bingo. She was an avid Dragons, OSU, Browns and Guardians fan.

Alice enjoyed and cherished the time that she spent with her family. In her younger years she loved to roller skate and was exceptionally good. She could actually dance on skates, knew all the latest-steps and competed in local competitions.

Alice is survived by her son, Jack Kevin Wood of Niles; her daughter, Sarah (Michael) Stanney of Westerville; six grandchildren, Keith Stanney, Kevin Stanney, Joshua Wood, Jacklyn Wood, Melissa Musser and Amanda Skocik; and five great-grandchildren, Peyton and Leah Musser, Harper Stanney, and Jacob and Reese Skocik.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald W. Wood, whom she married June 12, 1951, and who passed Sept. 15, 1997; her son, Gerald D. Wood; her parents, Michael J. and Sarah A. Bianco; and four brothers, John, Carl, Harold and Robert Bianco.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the Holloway-Williams Funeral Home, 611 Robbins Ave., Niles. Pastor David Conrad will officiate. Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 24.

Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
