Thomas M. Gulling 1972-2026
NEWTON FALLS — Thomas Merne Gulling, known lovingly to family and friends as “Tommy,” passed away Sunday, June 7, 2026, at his residence with his loving family at his side following a six-year battle with melanoma.
He was born Sept. 6, 1972, in Canton, to Paul “Edward” and Dianna Dietrich Gulling.
Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Ed Gulling; and his grandparents, Harry and Marie Gulling and Merne and Hazel Dietrich.
A 1991 graduate of Marlington High School, Tom served four years in the U.S. Army 65th Division Engineer Battalion, receiving the Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Defense Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal Ribbon. He was also an Air Assault School graduate. Tom drove LTL freight as a CDL driver for 30-plus years, with over two million miles for Holland, FedEx Ex Freight and Saia. He was known for his diligent work ethic and the camaraderie he shared with his colleagues.
When Tom met and married his wife of 10 years, Jill, he became a loving parent to Allison (John) Seifert and Cameron Hunt. He is also survived by his mother, Dianna Gulling; his children, Kyle and Ashley Gulling; two grandchildren from his previous marriage; brothers, Patrick (Karen) Gulling, Darryl (Amy) Gulling and Rich (Karla) Gulling; in-laws, Ron and Debbie Jones; brother-in-law, Keith (Jennifer) Jones; and many nieces and nephews.
Tom was energetic with an optimistic zest for life. Known for his immaculate car detailing, Tom also loved boating, golfing, playing euchre, bowling and traveling with friends. He was equally passionate about Ohio State Buckeyes football and the Cleveland Browns. Tom was also a lifetime member of AMVETS Post #112 in Newton Falls.
His spirit and memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those he loved and he will be dearly missed.
Per Tom’s request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
