Roy D. Domyanich 1954-2026
Roy D. Domyanich
NEWTON FALLS — Roy D. Domyanich, 71, passed away at his home Sunday, June 7, 2026.
Born July 5, 1954, in Warren, to the late Rudolph Jack Domyanich and Ann Rajcan Domyanich, Roy was a man whose hands were rarely still and whose heart was always full. For 38 years, Roy’s home served as the heart of his family — a place where the lawn was a constant backdrop for the picnics, parties and cherished gatherings of those he loved most. He possessed a remarkable talent for creation, believing that anything could be built with just a bit of wood, a hammer and a handful of nails. From a homemade putt-putt course to a beloved “Thomas the Tank Engine,” Roy had the unique gift of pulling forgotten treasures from the corners of his garage and bringing them to life for his greatest joy — his five grandchildren.
“Boppa,” as he was known, was never happier than when supporting Eli, Dave, Sam, Ethan and Emme. Whether he was cheering at a baseball game, sitting front row at a school play or beaming with pride at a graduation, he was their most constant and enthusiastic advocate.
Roy was also a gifted artist. His legacy remains etched into the landscape near the woods where he played as a boy and hunted as a man; there, a giant totem pole and a hand-carved mama and baby bear stand as enduring testaments to his creative spirit and his connection to the natural world.
Roy is survived by his beloved wife, Doreen; his cherished stepsons, Brad (Teresa) Masters of Columbiana and Nathan (Amy) Masters of Newton Falls; his sisters-in-law, Rosemary Domyanich, Deb Davis, Angie Huston and Susie Huston; brothers-in-law, Donald Kerr, Mark Huston, Jim Huston and Bob Davis; many cherished nieces and nephews; and his father-in-law, Bob Shriver, who remained a true friend to Roy through all of life’s seasons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Rudy and Ron Domyanich; and his sisters, Joann Kerr and Susie Merolillo.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services at this time.
A celebration of Roy’s life will be announced at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the James Funeral Home, 8 E. Broad St., Newton Falls, OH 44444, 330-872-5440. Family and friends may view his obituary online or send condolences at www.jamesfuneralhomeinc.com.
