Marilu Ciferno 1955-2026

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Marilu Ciferno, 71, loving mother and grandmother, passed away Friday, May 22, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada, with her family by her side.

Marilu was born March 20, 1955, in Warren, to Lawrence A. and Loretta A. Grohosky

Ciferno.

She graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Warren and obtained her nursing certificate from Choffin School of Practical Nursing, working as a dialysis nurse for most of her career.

Marilu relocated to Las Vegas in 2005 with two of her daughters, where she could be found lounging by the pool with a book in her hands. For many years, as her children and grandchildren were growing up, she was the family seamstress -- making costumes, prom dresses, mending clothes and even many stuffed animals. She really enjoyed following sports on TV, especially the Las Vegas Golden Knights and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Above all, her grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy, and she attended as many of their sporting and school events as possible. In her final days, her family soaked up every minute they could with her.

She is survived by her three daughters and their spouses, Laura Dankovic and Bradly Schiefer of Ontario, Ohio, Carolyn and Robert Zirkel of Las Vegas, and Andrea and Jason Ross, also of Las Vegas; four grandchildren, Kennedy Zirkel, Brooklyn Zirkel, Evan Zirkel, and Lillian Ross; eight siblings, Lawrence Ciferno of Denver, Colorado, Richard (Diane) Ciferno of Mechanicsville, Virginia, Sheila Ciferno of Westerville, Kevin (Denise) Ciferno of Bradenton, Florida, Judy (Steve) Dardas of Youngstown, Theresa (Mario) Bienvenue of Columbus, Brian (Alison) Ciferno of Highland Heights, and Lucianne (Matthew) Sauer of Columbus; and 18 nieces and nephews.

Marilu was preceded in death by her parents.

At Marilu's request, cremation will take place and there are no formal services at this time.

A memorial service may take place at a later date.
