Margaret Blackstone 1949-2026
WARREN — Margaret “Peg” Blackstone, 96, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 7, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
Born and raised in Warren, Peg spent her entire life in the community she loved. On Sept. 22, 1949, she married Roy A. Blackstone. Together, they shared 68 years of marriage until his passing in 2017.
Peg was an avid reader who enjoyed sewing, attending antique shows and sharing her love of music. She sang in her church choir well into her 80s and was a longtime member of the Warren Civic Chorus, where she participated in performances of Handel’s Messiah. Having learned piano at a young age, she continued playing throughout her life and often entertained fellow residents at her assisted living community with her music.
She is survived by her son, Roy Blackstone, and her daughter, Peggy Roberts.
Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel, 164 N. High St., Cortland, with a memorial service to follow at noon.
She will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery.
