WARREN -- Janice B. Lenhart, known lovingly by family and friends as Jan, passed away Friday, June 19, 2026, in Warren, at the age of 88, following complications of cancer.
Jan was born Nov. 4, 1937, in Martin County, North Carolina, and carried the warmth, strength and grace of her Southern roots throughout her life.
She later made her home in Warren, where she built a life centered on family, friendship and the simple joys that meant the most to her. A proud graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Jan carried herself with kindness and dignity, and she touched the lives of many through the years. Jan worked at Western Auto and later retired from nutritional services at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
She was known as a dependable worker who took pride in doing her job well and in being part of the lives and routines of those around her. Her years of employment reflected the steady, caring nature that defined her, and she formed many lasting connections along the way.
Outside of work, Jan embraced life with enthusiasm and a joyful spirit. She enjoyed dancing, bus trips with her girlfriends, going out to dinner with her brother and, most of all, shopping and going to lunch with her girls. These outings brought her great happiness and she treasured the laughter, conversation and companionship they provided.
She also loved spending time with her granddog, Nilla Rose, whom she affectionately called "Grandma's Baby." Jan especially looked forward to talking with her dear friend Lorraine Hafner every morning, a cherished daily tradition that reflected the deep and faithful friendships she held close to her heart.
Jan is survived by her brothers, Lewis Valentz of Gustavus and Eugene (Darlene) Valentz of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her daughters, Pennie (Kenny) Severt and Peggy (Jerry) Miller, both of Warren. Her memory will be lovingly carried on by her grandchildren, Jessica, Shane, Denise and Jordan; her great-grandchildren, Peyton, Brooklynn, Dominic, Dustin, Preston and Triston; and her great-great-grandchildren, Ally, Zane, Zariyah and Zendayah. She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will continue to cherish her memory and the many ways she enriched their lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pennie T. Valentz and Raymond Mayo Bailey; her brothers, Milton Bailey and James Bailey; her sister, Mary Chisholm; and her grandson, Austin Bingamon. These loved ones welcomed her into eternal rest and their memories remained an important part of her life story.
The family would like to thank Cortland Healthcare Center and Southern Care Hospice Care for their excellent care and compassion during Jan's final days. Their kindness and support brought comfort to Jan and her loved ones, and the family is deeply appreciative of the dignity with which she was cared for.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2026, at The River Church, 4257 Tod Ave. NW, Warren, OH 44485, with Pastor Mikel Lagaras officiating. Calling hours will be 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Interment will be in Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna.
Jan's life was one marked by love, laughter, devotion and enduring connection. She will be remembered with great affection by all who knew her.
