James R. Hite 1932-2026
Together again
WARREN — James R. Hite, 94, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at his home with his sons by his side.
He was born March 26, 1932, in Warren, a son of Hallie P. and Addie May Sullivan Hite.
James graduated from Howland High School. He entered the United States Army on Sept. 27, 1949, serving during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged Dec. 18, 1952.
On March 26, 1956, he married Margaret A. Ulrich, and they spent 66 happily married years until her passing June 15, 2022.
James retired from Copperweld Steel, was a Boy Scout leader for 14 years and was a very active member of First Baptist Church of Howland for many years.
He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his sons, Robert P. Hite of Columbus, Michael (Kathy) Hite of Champion and Andrew (Melanie) Hite of Leavittsburg; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Zack) Darno, Daniel (Ashley) Hite, Madi Hite and Holden Hite; and three great-grandchildren. James also leaves his sisters, Janice (Paul) O’Donnell of Howland and Shirley Dyett of Florida; and many nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Hite, and sister, Margaret Noble.
Services will be at noon Friday, June 26, 2026, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where Pastor Kevin Carson will officiate.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Howland Township Cemetery, Howland.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
