Frances M. Rommel 1940-2026

WARREN — Frances Rommel, 85, died Tuesday, June 23, 2026, following a brief illness.

She was born Sept. 10, 1940, in Meadville, Pa., a daughter of Matthew and Grace Reigle Miceli.

Frances moved to Niles with her family as a toddler and continued to be an area resident for the remainder of her life.

She was the beloved wife of her husband, Peter Rommel, for 57 years. As a dedicated homemaker, she poured her heart into caring for her family. Throughout her life, she unselfishly cared for those she loved, including her husband through years of illness, as well as her parents, grandmother-in-law and siblings. She found her greatest purpose in caring for others.

Frances was always working by Peter’s side in the various businesses they owned. She was president of Rommel Electric Inc., which was founded in 1972. Frances co-founded the local Northeast Ohio Chapter of Pilots for Christ (PCI) with Peter and was the manager of the International PCI Merchandise Store for several years. PCI flew “missions of mercy” transporting individuals with severe health issues for medical treatments and surgery. She was an active member of Christian Life Church in Canfield.

She leaves her daughter, Jacquelyn (Larry) Tura; two granddaughters, Lauren Tenney and Lindsay Tura; and her two great-grandchildren, Audrianna and Connor. She also leaves a brother, Matthew Miceli Jr.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, whom she married Jan. 7, 1961; and her sister, Sylvia Miceli.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to her granddaughter, Lauren, for the extraordinary love, care and compassion she showed taking care of her grandmother during her final weeks.
