Enid ‘Jill’ Bray 1936-2026

BROOKFIELD — Enid “Jill” Bray, 90, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, June 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with dementia.

Born Jan. 24, 1936, in Shirebrook, Nottinghamshire, England, Jill was the daughter of Alfred and Ada Swinscoe Quimby.

Jill devoted many years to her family as a loving stay-at-home mother. Later, she worked as a receptionist and spent 15 years as a sales associate at Hallmark, where she enjoyed helping customers find the perfect way to celebrate life’s special moments and bought way too many ornaments.

A faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Niles, Jill found joy in singing with the church choir. She was also an active member of the Campfire Street Rodders, sharing many happy adventures and camping trips with friends and family. Jill enjoyed a good book, knitting, listening to Frank Sinatra and relaxing with a glass of red wine. Most of all, she cherished time spent with those she loved.

Jill is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Richard Bray; her daughter, Dawn Flexney; her son, Christopher Bray; and her daughter, Heather Bray. She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Julia Bray; her parents, Alfred and Ada Quimby; her brother, Ralph Quimby; her father-in-law, Clifford Bray; her mother-in-law, Helen Bray; her brother-in-law, Alan Bray; and her sisters-in-law, Patricia Bray and DeAnn Baker.

Jill will be remembered for her gentle spirit, joy for life and the warmth she brought to everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026, at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home in Niles.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Niles, where family and friends may also call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. David Conrad will officiate.
