CORTLAND -- Eileen Blaney, 85, died Saturday, May 30, 2026, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital. She was born in Warren, Ohio, the daughter of Myron and Priscella Bartholomew.
To list all her accomplishments in her life would take up a full page. Here are a few important ones.
She joined the U.S. Army in 1962. Later, she worked for the Packard Electric Division of GM. She was an over-50-year member of Grace United Methodist Church, serving in many church offices and was instrumental in the organization of the library for the church. She was part of the Red Hat Society and was an active committee member of the Trumbull County Historical Society. Her passion was sewing and quilting. She was a published author with her quilt, winning her a cash prize. Her other writings included "William McKinley: The Forgotten President" in 1994. She also had written a children's book for her grandson, Lucas Blaney.
She is survived by her daughter, Chayo E. (Anthony) Montalvo of Crowley, Texas; her son, Brian H. (Donna) Blaney of Southington; and six grandchildren, Miriah, Amber, Matthew, Ashley, Mary and Wesley.
Her husband of 47 years, John Blaney, preceded her in death, as did her brother, George Bartholomew; sister-in-law, Erika Bartholomew; and one grandson, Lucas Blaney.
A memorial service will begin at noon Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Lane Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive NE, Warren.
Interment will take place in the mausoleum at Crown Hill Burial Park at a later date.
