CHAMPION -- Doris J. Ridenour, 95, a lifetime resident of Leavittsburg, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 2, 2026, just short of her 96th birthday, at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland.
Doris was born on July 31, 1930, in Masury, a daughter of Jack and Flossie Lanahan.
She was a June 1948 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and worked in the Leavittsburg/Labrae school system for 18 years as a reading tutor.
After high school, she married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Robert Ridenour, on June 16, 1948.
She was a longtime member of Leavittsburg Community Church and the Leavittsburg Mother's Club. She enjoyed annual visits with friends from the Mother's Club after her retirement.
She cherished spending her winters in Sandalwood, Florida, where she formed many lasting friendships. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandsons, especially sharing breakfast outings at Raptis. She also treasured the companionship of her neighbors and friends, who held a special place in her heart. Known for her warm personality, quick wit and love of conversation, she never met a stranger and brought laughter and joy to those around her.
Doris will be deeply missed by her daughters, Bobette (Jim) Cicchillo of Bristolville and Debbie (Lee) Bynum of Savannah, Georgia; grandsons, Joe Cicchillo and Mario (Lauren) Cicchillo, both of Warren; great-granddaughters, Isla and Mae Cicchillo; and many nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Robert Ridenour, who passed away in January of 2004; her firstborn grandson, Jeremy Lee Bynum, who passed away on Aug. 8, 2011, and who was living in her heart forever; sisters, Mary Louise Fiest and Betty Pearson; and a special niece, Beverly Pierson, who passed away in May of 2011.
Family and friends may visit from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Lane Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive NE, Warren, where a funeral service will follow visitation at noon.
Doris' family would like to thank the special aides that helped take care of her at her home, the nurses and aides at Shepherd of the Valley, and a very special thanks to her great-nieces, Becky, Jackie and Mel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made, in memory of Doris, to the Leavittsburg Community Church, 4640 W. Market St., Warren, OH 44430.
