HOWLAND -- David Allen Nycum, 55, passed away peacefully Monday, June 1, 2026, following a brief illness and complications from ongoing health issues, surrounded by his loving family.
David was born Dec. 13, 1970, in Warren, the son of Jerry A. and Connie Nycum.
He was a lifelong area resident and a 1989 graduate of Howland High School. Following graduation, he attended Youngstown State University. David was a proud steelworker who worked for nearly 20 years at WCI/RG Steel prior to the company's closure. Most recently, he was employed at Ultium Cells in Lordstown. He enjoyed playing APA and TAP pool and was a familiar face at The Rig in Howland. David was outgoing, funny, kind and thoughtful, making friends wherever he went. His family and friends meant everything to him. David had many passions, including music, cats, comic books, video games, and all things superhero and science fiction. He was an avid fan of Star Trek and the Alien movie franchise. He was also a devoted cat dad to Moof, Data, Hades and Lore.
David was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Kyralynn Nycum, who passed away June 9, 2023; and by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
He is survived by his parents, Jerry and Connie Nycum; his son, Seth Nycum; his daughter, Deanna (Ray) Daniels; his grandchildren, Matthew and Scarlett Daniels; his sister, Julie (Chad) Wilkinson; and his nephew, Connor Wilkinson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material contributions be made, in David's memory, to your favorite animal charity, mental health organization or the Huntington's Disease Society of America.
