BROOKFIELD -- Thomas James Obermiyer Sr., 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2026.

He was born Oct. 12, 1941, to the late Stephen and Anne Nasin Obermiyer.

Tom was a dedicated and hardworking man who was self-employed for many years as a mechanic, owning and operating Tom Obermiyer and Son Garage. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, water skiing and snowmobiling. He especially cherished vacations to Ocean City, Maryland, with his beloved wife, Shirley, where he developed a fond love for seafood, particularly hard-shell crab.

Above all, Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughter, Sherry (Michael Ray) Mattocks; his son, Thomas James (Tracey) Obermiyer Jr.; his grandchildren, Michael Ryan and Nicholas James Mattocks, and Dakota William and Emily Joan Obermiyer; and his sister, Mary Ann (Dennis) Toth.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Ann Obermiyer; and his brother, Sonny Obermiyer.

Calling hours will take place 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2026, at Lane Funeral Home, Madasz Chapel, 6923 Warren Sharon Road, Brookfield, OH 44403, with a service to follow at 1 p.m.
