Theodore M. Hoffman 1965-2026
HAYMARKET, Va. — Theodore Michael “Ted” Hoffman, 61, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Haymarket Medical Center.
Ted was born Feb. 23, 1965, in Warren and was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School in 1983. He was also a proud graduate of The Ohio State University, majoring in business management and marketing.
Ted started his career with seven years as a division training manager with PepsiCo Restaurant Brands. He joined Boston Market Corporation and served in various roles over 20 years, primarily as a division director, leading operations for 80 restaurants in eight states. Ted joined the Haslam family in 2014 as a division director within Pilot / Flying J Travel Centers, where, for seven years, he led 13 of the largest locations in Northeast Ohio and Pennsylvania. A multiple operational award-winning leader throughout his career, Ted joined JustRite Equipment, a division of DuraServ, in 2023 as a division operations manager responsible for all Virginia operations.
Ted loved spending time in his private life with his wife, two children, his relatives and friends — traveling, playing golf and barbecuing. Ted lived his life under the motto of “Go big or go home.”
To know Ted was to love him. He was a people person and could always make a connection with anyone he met. He will be remembered for his caring and selfless heart. Ted was a very thoughtful and generous individual who loved to bring happiness to others especially through food, beverages and hospitality. He often donated to local charities, contributing for years to breast cancer research funding, including his work as the founder of the Y-ME yearly golf tournament in Northern Virginia.
Preceded in death by his loving parents, Kenneth A. Hoffman Jr. and Edith L. Khoenle Hoffman, Ted is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Michelle S. Hoffman; his children, Zachary M. Hoffman (Jenifer Kjos) of Ranson, W.Va., and Emily G. Hoffman (Logan Martin) of Nitro, W.Va.; his sisters, Debbie H. Gray (Bill) of Pepperell, Massachusetts, and Cathy A. Hoffman of Bristol, Virginia; his brother, Doug Hoffman (Brittain) of Tinmath, Colorado; and also by many loved nieces and nephews.
