Shirley A. Martin 1936-2026

CHAMPION — Shirley A. Martin, 89, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at home.

She was born May 18, 1936, in Glen Daniel, W.Va., the daughter of Emmer and Maggie Fleshman Workman.

Shirley loved dogs and children; music — especially bluegrass, the blues and gospel; camping and beach vacations with her family; trips to the casino; and long country drives. She was very artistic. She loved quilting, crocheting, embroidery, painting landscapes, canning and refinishing furniture.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Martin of Champion; daughter, Teresa (Dennis) Baker of Bristolville; son, Michael (Laura) Martin, also of Bristolville; brother, Neal (Linda) Workman of Newton Falls; sisters-in-law, Louise (Ed) Wolfli of Howland and Lorraine Hundley of Marietta; grandchildren, Brandon (Andrea) Martin of Masury, Joshua (Lorie) Martin of Bristolville and Kaylee Baker of Southington; and great-grandsons, Bahr, Baine, Kane, Raylon and Roy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Ann Hughes; daughter-in-law, Darlene Martin; siblings, Yovonne Stover, Wade Workman, Charles Workman, Jane Davis, Bonnie Jarrell and June Jarrell; and grandson, Dennis R. Baker.

A private graveside service will take place for her family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
