Ronald L. Speck 1954-2026
NEWTON FALLS — Ronald L. Speck, 72, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Hospice House in Poland.
He was born Jan. 18, 1954, in Youngstown, the son of the late Marvin Benjamin Speck and Anne Louise Kennedy Speck.
Ron lived in Newton Falls since 1983; he was formerly of Youngstown, where he graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1972. After high school, he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1972 to 1976.
Ron worked for Pesce Baking Company in Youngstown as a bread driver for eight years and then worked for Denman Tire Company in Leavittsburg for 7 1/2 years. Ron’s last job was working for the City of Newton Falls Waste Water Department for 30 years, retiring in 2016.
He was a life member of AMVETS Post #112 and an auxiliary member of VFW Post #3332, both in Newton Falls.
Ron loved golfing with his family and friends; gardening; coin, card and record collecting; was a big Led Zeppelin fan; and loved all Cleveland sports teams, especially the Cleveland Browns.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Anne Speck.
Ron is survived by his wife, Laura S. Speck of Newton Falls; one daughter, Samantha Speck (Daniel Schaller) of Canton; three sons, Nicholas Speck (Hannah Withrow) of Newton Falls, Phillip (Ellie) Speck of Cuyahoga Falls and Alexander Speck (Jess Morrisey) of Austin, Texas; one sister, FloJean Speck of Olney, Maryland; and three grandchildren, Ada Speck, Martin Schaller and Luca Speck.
Per Ron’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
A celebration of life service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Newton Falls AMVETS Post #112.
Military honors will be held before his service.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that all donations be made to AMVETS Post #112, 37 West Broad St., Newton Falls, OH 44444, in his name.
