Robert E. Sorber Sr. 1935-2026
WARREN — Robert E. Sorber Sr., 90, of Warren, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at home, surrounded by his family.
He was born Nov. 11, 1935, in West Nanticoke, Pa., a son of Norman and Margaret Sorber.
He married the love of his life, the former Marilyn L. Palmer, on Aug. 2, 1954, at West Nanticoke United Methodist Church, by Rev. Emery Greenfield.
Robert worked at the former Warren Sanitary Dairy and over 31 years with the Trumbull County Engineers Office. He also worked as a highway superintendent for 14 years.
Robert has been a member of the Tod Avenue United Methodist Church of Warren for over 50 years. He was a former trustee of the church, enjoyed volunteering with their fish dinners and helping with maintenance and mowing around the church.
Robert liked working in his vegetable garden, camping, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and dance recitals.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Palmer Sorber; sons, Robert E. Sorber Jr. of Warren and Scott (Desi) Sorber of Grafton; daughter, Lori (Rick) York of Champion; daughter-in-law, Karen Sorber; grandchildren, Robert E. Sorber III, Heather (Danny) Lowry, Haley (Nicolas) Wildman, Bethany (Brad) Hall, Tyler (Emily) Sorber, Alison (Jake) Heiligenberg and Corbin York; great-grandchildren, Nicolas Allen Wildman Jr., Colt Robert Sorber, Cam Thomas Sorber, Caleb Michael Hall, Bryn Nicole Lowry, Lucas Allen Wildman, Selah Lynn Wildman and Lainey Barbara Heiligenberg; and a brother-in-law, William (Donna) Palmer of Cinnaminson, New Jersey.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his son, Wayne L. Sorber.
A private service has been held.
Inurnment will be in the Newton Falls Township West Cemetery.
Carl W. Hall Funeral Home has been entrusted with services.
