WARREN — Richard Lawrence Williams, 84, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Hospice House.
He was born Dec. 7, 1941, in Youngstown, the son of Richard A. Williams and Elaine Funkhouser.
Richard was a 1959 graduate of Niles McKinley High School. After high school he entered the United States Army, having served in Vietnam and Thailand. Following being honorably discharged from the Army, Richard earned an associate degree from Kent State University.
He worked at Wean Industries for 30 years as a manufacturing engineer.
Richard attended First Presbyterian Church and was a Freemason.
In his spare time, he coached softball, was a Junior Achievement leader, golfed and enjoyed his classic car.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Williams, whom he married Oct. 12, 1963, and with whom he shared over 62 years of marriage. Richard is also survived by his daughters, Diane (John) Gaston of Champion, Karen Williams of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Linda Slusher of Niles; Shealeigh Lipscomb of Champion, whom he raised as his own; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Williams.
A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 14, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church, where friends may visit from 10:30 a.m. until service time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
