Regina E. Canzonetta 1930-2026

WARREN — Regina Elizabeth “Gina” Canzonetta, 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026, surrounded by her family.

She was born Sept. 6, 1930, in Warren, the youngest child of the late Nick Montecalvo and Portia Ianizzaro Montecalvo. Regina married David Canzonetta on June 25, 1949, and they shared 70 years together until his passing in 2020.

Regina graduated from St. Mary Catholic High School in 1948 and devoted her life to her family as a homemaker. In her younger years she sang at weddings and had a beautiful soprano voice. Regina was especially known for her delicious Italian dinners and her gift for making everyone feel welcome at her table. She had a talent for decorating and took immense pride in her home.

Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life.

Regina liked to travel, knit, crochet and most of all, tell jokes and make people laugh. She was active in the community, serving as a precinct committeewoman for over 25 years for the Democratic Party, volunteering with mobile meals and being one of the first members in the Mothers of Twins Club.

Regina was a longtime member of the former St. Mary Catholic Church and was involved in the church choir for many years. Her faith in God grew stronger throughout the years. She believed and loved to recite, “God, you are my Father; Jesus Christ, you are my Savior; Holy Spirit, you are my Helper; and Heaven is my Home.” Another favorite was “We will all be together again.”

Regina’s vibrant presence will be missed by her children, Mary (Gordon) Hazen, David (Barbara) Canzonetta, Monica (Mark) Hall, Mark (Stephanie) Canzonetta and Terese (Bernie) Eddy; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is her brother-in-law, Jack (Patty) Canzonetta.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Canzonetta; her parents; six brothers, Joseph, Patsy, James, Frank, Nick and Carmen Montecalvo; and four sisters, Antoinette Sicuro, Mary Pupillo, Lena Kershner and Theresa Verbosky.

Special thanks to the staff at Otterbein of Cortland for the compassionate and wonderful care provided to Regina in her final months.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2026, at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish-St. Mary Church, Warren. Friends and family may gather 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.

Regina will be laid to rest next to her husband in All Souls Cemetery, Bazetta.
