Michael D. Ames 1979-2026
HOWLAND — Michael D. Ames, 46, fought valiantly before succumbing to his illness Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Cleveland Clinic.
He was born Aug. 15, 1979, in Warren, the son of Doug and Shelia Gwinn Ames.
Michael graduated from Lordstown High School and Kent State University. He was employed as a manager with Heller, Maas, Moro and Magill, LPA. Michael was the life of the party — outgoing, friendly and adventurous. Michael enjoyed playing golf and coaching basketball, softball and baseball, but he loved coaching and spending time with his son the most. He loved camping and being with his friends, was a fan of Disney World and was always up for poker or anything else. He was a huge fan of the North Carolina Tar Heels, the Guardians, the Browns, the Cavaliers and Ohio State football. He couldn’t wait to go to Duck, North Carolina, on the Outer Banks, and he was always ready for a Jimmy Buffett concert or sitting by the bonfire.
Precious memories of Michael live with his parents, Doug and Shelia Ames of Howland; his beloved wife of 17 years, Melissa Padisak Ames, whom he married Sept. 26, 2008; his son, Jackson Ames; his sister, Missy Dailey of Austintown; many nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends who adore him and think of him fondly.
When you come to the calling hours and services, please dress to reflect Michael’s interests — Tar Heels, Guardians, Browns, Cavs, Ohio State, a Hawaiian shirt, a golf shirt with a golf course name or anything similar. Please do not wear a dark black suit, as this is to be a bright celebration of Michael’s active life.
Calling hours will be 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2026, at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, where services will begin at 6 p.m. All who know and love Michael are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to Jackson’s education fund at Seven Seventeen Credit Union.
Arrangements are entrusted to Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, 962 North Road NE, Warren, OH 44483, 330-394-6200. Dedicated to serving your loved ones. This obituary may be viewed and condolences sent at www.statonborowskifuneralhome.com.
